About Us

ACB is Asian Congress on Biotechnology (ACB) is organized biannually under the aegis of Asian Federation of Biotechnolgy in one of the Asian countries. The Asian Federation of Biotechnolgy (AFOB) (www.afob.org) was set up in 2008 after a series of meetings with representatives from about 15 Asian countries, when it was decided to establish its main office at Incheon, Korea. ACB itself is a continuation of earlier well-known Asia Pacific Biochemical Engineering Conference (APBioChEC), which was held nine times during 1980 to 2009. ACB, however, has a broader mandate as it encompasses not only biochemical engineering, but also several emerging areas of biotechnology, which are going to play an important role in development and commercialization of several technologies which will be beneficial for the well-being of humankind. The development of bio-based technologies, by virtue of their being mild-energy intensive in nature and based on renewable feedstock, will pave the way for large usage of sustainable technologies in various sectors of economy such as renewable energy, food, agriculture, health-care, biodegradable polymers, biofertilizers, biopesticides, biopharmaceuticals, commodity and fine chemicals etc. The purpose of this Asian Congress on Biotechnology is to bring together leading professionals from academia, industry and government to discuss scientific and strategic advances resulting in global sustainability and to foster collaborations.
